Online OAT Tutoring Process
OAT (Optometry Admissions Test) tutoring from MyGuru is a customized experience featuring 1-1 instruction from an experienced tutor with a 90th percentile score or better on the OAT exam. Students are asked to purchase this OAT test prep book, as well as the official test prep materials recommend by ASCO (the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry) prior to their first session.

Customized, 1-1 OAT Tutoring
For students interested in a longer-term tutoring and mentoring relationship to help them prepare for the OAT, the first session is diagnostic in nature and involves a discussion of the student’s familiarity with the exam and the concepts and question types covered, academic experiences in core subject areas tested on the exam, and an overview of each section of the OAT. During or immediately after the initial session, a customized study plan is designed leveraging the materials mentioned above. Weekly (or at whatever cadence makes sense) sessions cover facts, concepts, and test taking strategies for each section of the OAT.
Of course, we also work with students who are simply interested in purchasing sessions by the hour, and who come to us with specific questions or topics they’d like to discuss.
Convenient, Effective Online Approach
We conduct most of our OAT tutoring online using a simple but highly effective approach that combines an online whiteboard from Realtime Whiteboard with a Google Hangout session. After each session, we can generate a PDF of the whiteboard used, which can be an invaluable source of notes. You also have the option of recording the session for later review.

Pricing
Our base rate for private online OAT tutoring is $95, but we also offer 5, 10, or 15 hour packages which come with discounts of 5, 10, or 15%. That's a long-term rate of $95 × 85% = $80.75 per hour. After the first session, if you then choose to continue with a 15-hour package, that's a total cost of $80.75 × 15 hours = $1,211.25 for 15 hours of tutoring.
