Welcome to our new “tutor information” page.
Are you a recently accepted tutor? What do you need to know?
I’m Mark Skoskiewicz, founder of MyGuru, and I’d like to welcome you to our team. Most likely, an informal interview has been scheduled, and we now have a potential student for you to work with. Importantly, I want to be clear that you are an independent contractor, not an employee, of MyGuru. We encourage you to set clear objectives with your students, help them create a customized study plan, follow deliberate practice principles when you are tutoring them, and find ways to test and measure their progress. However, you can use your own tutoring methods and are free to contract with other companies when you work with us.
As part of the process of getting you up and running with our company I’d like to ask you a few things.
First, please familiarize yourself with our perspective on tutoring best practices.

Next, please learn about our specific business processes.
We will continue to conduct brief informal interviews (primarily via phone) with all new tutors who are going to work with a MyGuru student for the first time. In these "informal interviews / onboarding sessions" you'll learn more about MyGuru's history, business processes, expectations, etc. However, several years ago, we did create a tutor operating manual which can help answer many of these questions. It's helpful to read through this before or after your onboarding discussion.
Please take a moment to read our tutor manual which goes into more detail about how we operate (i.e., scheduling, reporting hours, refunds and cancellation policies, etc.).

Senior Tutor Partnership Program
If you work with a significant number of students outside of MyGuru, we'd like you to consider introducing them to MyGuru and treating them as MyGuru customers. You'd receive administrative and marketing support, 92% of whatever price you set for the student, and a 5% referral fee when that student invests in additional tutoring from MyGuru.
